The Sony WI-SP500 is a wireless noise-cancelling splash-proof in-ear open-driver headphone. On the right earbud, we have the volume buttons which also double up as a skip forward/backward with a hold and the power button which works as a play/pause button as well. While on the left earbud, there is a Micro-USb port for charging hidden under a cover. It takes about 2 hours to charge up the WI-SP500 from a dead battery. Tapping your phone's NFC to the NFC tag on the earbud instantly pairs the earbuds with your phone. Bluetooth pairing is simple and quick as well. As a sports earbud, the WF-SP500 boasts a IPX4 splash-proof rating for those intense sweaty workout, giving users the ultimate peace of mind. Both earbuds bear the Sony logo and ensure a secure fit. The earbuds also do a great job at resisting fingerprints smudges since it has a matte finish.

Sound Quality

The 13,5mm open-air drivers does a good job at mixing both music and ambient sound together to keep you safe while you exercise. Highs and mids come off as clean and balanced and bass is too weak for my liking as a workout headphone. Soundstage was also disappointing as instruments, vocals, bass and treble do not have much depth and detail. On  the bright side, call quality is fantastic as the caller on the other end is able to heard me clearly.

Connectivity & Portability

The headphone operates only wirelessly. So if you are out of battery, you are out of luck. The earbuds supports the basic AAC and SBC codecs together with Bluetooth Version 4.1. The package also comes with a micro USB cable for charging and a holder to keep the buds neat after use. If you try to watch videos or movies with these, they have a 1 second delay in transmission, hence it is not recommended for users to do so.

The Sony WF-SP600N is made for a very special category of sportsmen.
