SENNHEISER CX 7.00BT

Design & Construction

The Sennheiser CX 7.00BT is Sennheiser's second attempt at creating a neckband style in-ear headphone, right after the successful debut of the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear Wireless. Sennheiser intentionally brought down the type of materials used to create a slightly cheaper neckband style in-ear headphone. The CX 7.00BT has a rigid neckband housing all the controls on the left side. There is the (Back-Front): , the power button, Vol + button, Play/Pause button and Vol - button. On the right side, there is the NFC tag. The left side band exterior bears the Sennheiser logo while the right bears the 'SENNHEISER' words. Indeed, a cool-looking, stylish neckband. Pressing once on the power button allows users to check the battery life of the device. The front left is where the Micro-USB port lies underside the cover. I tested the mic on these to take calls and it proves to work well. The caller on the other end didn't know I had used the mic on these to communicate. There are also different size of buds for one to find the best fit. The back of the neckband is fit with silicone that feels nice to the touch surprisingly. At 48g, this is definitely light-weight and good for users who wear it all day. Having a range of colours will allow consumers to express themselves, but sadly, Sennheiser only sell these in matte black with small accents of blue. This doesn't give consumers of the mass population a chance to express themselves. The CX 7.00BT feels durable even though its made of plastic. The earbuds themselves bear the Sennheiser logo in chrome while the rest of it is in black and blue. There isn't a magnetic buds feature to keep the buds neat on your body when you are not using them. Hence, they do hang down awkwardly on your upper body.

Sound Quality

If you love a clear sound signature, then look no further. From my in-house test, the drivers do a great job in reproducing the mids and highs clearly. The bass can be a little thin at times but it does give a satisfying thump in your ear. There are small port underside each earbuds which I believe to be the bass ports. This helps enhance the quality of the bass. It works well with all genres but for tracks that has a lot of deep bass, it may not be able to do the job well.

Connectivity & Portability

It connects via Bluetooth Ver 4.1 and fitted with AptX Audio Codec; meant for providing clearer wireless transmission. There is also NFC to allow users to connect easily. It comes with a soft carry pouch which helps to protect it from unwanted scratches, however it will be better if Sennheiser had included a hard case. Nevertheless, the construction proved to be durable enough even for the roughest of users. Its battery life rates at a maximum of 10 hours and does not offer fast charge. It does charge up in a hour and a half though.
