Design & Construction

The Razer Seiren Mini is the mini microphone solution for any streamer that is looking for a budget-friendly and compact option. With its tiny build and affordable price, is the Seiren Mini, the ultimate answer streamers are looking for? Let's find out now. The unit consists of the microphone itself and the table mount. The tabletop mount support can be articulated to find the right angle which allows the mic to pick up most of your voice. It can also be detached and mounted on a boom arm or mic stand that uses a standard 5/8-inch thread. There is an in-built shock mount inside the Seiren Mini that helps to dampen vibrations and I found it to be true to an extent, excessive and loud vibration impacts will still be captured in the process of recording. At the back of the mic, you will find a Micro-USB port to provide power and the cable nicely slots into place, giving the mic a clean rounded finish even at the back. The cable is pretty long and ends with a USB-A port. In front, you will also find a LED indicator to show the power status of the mic.

Sound Quality

The Seiren Mini uses a 14mm condenser capsule to take in sound and has a super-cardioid polar pattern. With a frequency response from 20Hz to 20KHz, it will be great for most normal use cases, just don't expect it to perform like those professional streaming microphones. It can capture 16-bit rates, instead of the higher and more common 24-bit rate depth which drastically deprives the Seiren Mini's ability to perform better. My voice comes through as quite soft and a bit of post-processing to increase the volume is needed to keep the audio usable for video production. The mic, however, does pick up a lot of noises nearby, like the sond of a mechanical or regular keyboard or the click of a mouse. If you are in an untreated room, it can sound quite echoey too. To get the best usable sound, you got to need to have a treated room or a super silent room to get the best experience. If you are not so concerned about the quality, the Seiren Mini works well for two types of users, the employee in the meeting or the on-the-go budget streamer.

Connectivity & Portability

The Seiren Mini functions as a plug-and-play option and does not need any softwares installed to get the full potential. You can control the mic pickup volume in your computer settings depending on your OS and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux. The Seiren Mini does come in three colours, Black, Quartz and Mercury.

The Bottom Line

The Seiren Mini is an affordable and great starter streamers' microphone that allows streamers to have a better option than their laptops to record themselves while you game. It is highly recommended for online meetings use or typical quick streams, but those looking for a full recording set-up should consider other options, although the Seiren Mini can do you good during travels.
