SONY WI-C400

Design & Construction

The Sony WI-C400 is targeted at those looking for a no-frills and inexpensive behind-the-neck style in-ear headphone. On the left of the neckband, you will find the (From Back-Front): Power Button, Vol - and Vol + button, Mic and play/pause button while underneath, you will find the Micro-USB port for charging. The left side of the neckband bear the Sony logo while the right side has the NFC. The earbuds are quite small which means that they have no problems staying in your ears even when you do short sprints with them. The neckband is very light and will not cause discomfort to those who prefer to wear them all day. At the rear of the neckband, there is a vibration alert feature which notifies you of incoming calls and notifications. Overall, the product gives off this matte bright colour scheme which resist fingerprints smudges.

Sound Quality

The 9mm drivers are pretty average. They produce an extremely bright, clean sound signature that creates a very immersive sound experience. Bass comes off as strong and boosted giving a nice thump while the mids and highs have character and are fun to listen to. The highs do not sound too sharp and tinging. However, soundstage is rather narrow and there isn't much instrument separation. When the earbuds are in my ears, I could not hear my surroundings when there was no music on. Call quality was okay, the caller manage to hear me on the other end but the mics on the headphone do pick up my surrounding noise.

Connectivity & Portability

The headphone operates only wirelessly, however Sony did not disclose the codecs supprted. Pairing via both NFC and bluetooth is simple and quick. The battery life peaks at a huge 20 hours battery life but takes about 4.5 hours to fully charge from a dead battery. The neckband features a tangle-free cable management where users can shorten the wires to fit their neck length and also keep the wires neat on your neck when you don't need to use them. The package comes with various sizes of earbuds and a Micro-USB cable for charging.
