BOSE SOUNDLINK MICRO

Design & Construction

The Bose SoundLink Micro is the Bose's least expensive and small portable speaker in its lineup. It is crafted with a silicone texture around its body and all the controls are at the top. On the front of the speaker, you will see the Bose logo and three buttons for playback; Volume and the Multi-function button. The multi-function button allows for play/pause with a single press, skip forward with a double press and skip backwards with a triple tap. Holding the Multi-function button allows for activation of Google Assistant/Siri. The speaker offers water-proofing of IPX7 standard, however the speaker does not float in water. The custom-designed transducer and silicone passive radiators are positioned to fire sound upwards. A tear-resistant strap is also attached to the back of the speaker so that you can attach it to your bicycle handle, a beach umbrella or your backpack. On thre top, there is (From Left-Right): the On/Off Switch, 5 LEDs to indicate battery life, Micro-USB port for charging and Bluetooth Pairing button. The speaker also have a mic to pick up phone calls.

Sound Quality

At 70% volume, it can fill a small room. The bass response is extraordinary. Highs and mids sound bright. It is also worth knowing that it does not distort even at full volume. Another SoundLink Micro can be linked to form a 2.0 channel via the Bose Connect App, downloadable via the Play Store and App Store. One speaker will work as the left channel and the other, the right channel. Users may also pair other Bose SoundLink Speakers like the Bose SoundLink Revolve or Revolve+ to play louder sound in Party Mode.

Connectivity & Portability

The speaker offers Bluetooth Ver 4.2 for wireless listening, However, Bose decided to leave out the 3.5mm input for wired usage. Its battery life peaks at 6 hours, not exactly long enough for road trips or long hikes. However, the speaker does show us the battery status via the 5LEDs at the top. The SoundLink Micro also have voice prompts to notify you of its remaining battery life when turned on and the device it is connected to.
