BOSE QUIETCOMFORT 35

Design & Construction

The Bose QuietComfort 35 is the step-up, wireless edition of Bose's top-notch Noise-Cancelling headphone, the QuietComfort 25. The left earcup has totally no controls, while under the right earcup, we have the Vol- & Vol+ buttons and the Multi-function button which allows: seek backward/forward, pause/play and picking up/ending calls.  A red LED will light up when it is left to charge. It takes about 2.25 hours to charge from a dead battery. Pairing via both NFC and bluetooth is simple and quick. The power button is located at the right ear-cup. It allows you to not turn on/off the headphones with a push, it also allow the headphones to be put into pairing mode immediately with full push. A voice will speak the battery life and tell you which device you are connected to. Both earcups bear the Bose logo and the left earcup has the NFC. The headphones has very comfortable cushions which allows users to indulge in long listening session without physical pain. The headband is very light and will not cause discomfort to those who wear spectacles. It is also worth noting that the headrest of the headphones is covered with Alcantara. The exterior of the earcups has a polished finish and is made of glass-filled nylon. The exterior also resist fingerprints smudges very well, The earcups are made up of corrosion-free metal which pivot left, right, up, down and folds flat for easy storage. I have to say the Bose QuietComfort 35 is the world's most comfortable and light-weight headphone you can ever wear.

Sound Quality

The 40mm headphone drivers gives a extremely clear sound signature. The headphone drivers provide a very immersive experience. Based on user experience, the noise cancellation is great. I could not hear my surroundings at all when there was no music on. Highs, mids and lows are bright, creating a balanced sound signature. Its also good to know that the call quality on this is fantastic, the caller could hear me clearly on the other end and didn't know I was using the headphone mic to communicate. It is also important to take note that the noise-cancelling may be too strong at times and cause an air-cabin pressure feeling for users with more sensitive ears.

Connectivity & Portability

The headphone operates both passively and wirelessly. When used wirelessly, the battery lasts 20 hours and 40 hours in wired mode. Bose have an app called the Bose Connect app which users can download in the Play Store and App Store. The App enables users to tune the volume they would like. There is also an Active EQ which helps users to tune the sound to the best quality. The headphones stow flat and folds up into a compact profile, it also comes with a micro USB cable for charging. A hard carry bag is included together with an airplane adaptor for users to tap into in-flight entertainment.

UPDATE: (Sep 2017)

Bose allow users to tune the level of noise-cancellation ranging from High, Low and Off. High provides the full noise-cancelling function while Low allows some ambient noise to pass through in case users may need it for safety. Off totally disables the noise-cancellation.
