BEOPLAY P2

Design & Construction

The Beoplay P2 is the Beoplay's least expensive and smallest portable speaker in its lineup. It is crafted with aluminium on its speaker grille and polymer underside. On the top face of the speaker, you will find the single LED indicator while on the back, you will see the B&O Play logo which is used to power the speaker on or off. Holding down the B&O Play logo button for 2 seconds will activate Bluetooth Pairing. The rest of the playback controls are controlled with hand gestures and shakes. Double tapping on the speaker grille plays and pauses music, skipping forward requires you to shake the speaker horizontally. All these gestures can also be changed to your preferences through the Beoplay App, available for download on the App & Play Store. Beoplay did not disclose any IP ratings on its product but claims that it is resistant to dust and light splashes. Through our testing, the speaker survived large drops of water on its grille nd body. On the bottom, there is a USB Type C port for charging the speaker and a Mic for answering incoming calls.

Sound Quality

At 60% volume, it can fill a small room. The bass response is extraordinary and definitely better than competitors of its size. Highs and mids sound bright. It is also worth knowing that it does not distort even at full volume. This makes the speaker suitable for all types of music ranging from fast-paced EDM tracks to slow Classical songs. You may also choose to customise the sound settings to your own liking via the Beoplay App. ToneTouch customisation allows users to choose from 4 catergories of Warm, Excited, Relaxed or Bright. Alternately, you may choose from presets like Commute, Clear, Workout or Podcast. Call quality was great as the caller on the other end could hear me clearly without the need for me to step closer to the speaker or speak louder than normal.

Connectivity & Portability

The speaker offers Bluetooth Ver 4.2 for wireless listening, However, Beoplay decided to leave out the 3.5mm input for wired usage. Its battery life peaks at 10 hours. The speaker does not have voice prompts to notify us of the battery staus but offers a single LED on the speaker grille which turns solid red when the battery is below 10%. A leather carry strap comes attached to the speaker for users to hang it anywhere they like.
